External examiners are a crucial element of our procedures for reviewing and maintaining the quality and integrity of our degrees.

The department is honoured to have as our first, and current, external examiner Professor Colin Hay, University of Sheffield (BA Politics External Examiner 2007 – 2011).

Prof. Hay's appointment follows in a series of very distinguished external examiners. Recent external examiners for our undergraduate sociology degrees are:
